Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new switch camera mode, which will allow users to switch between a camera and video mode, on iOS beta.

Currently, users have to tap and hold to record a video which is complicated when they have to record a long video, reports WABetaInfo. However, now, users will soon be able to switch to video mode with just a tap in the future, making it simpler and easier to record videos.

The new camera mode is currently under development on WhatsApp beta for iOS and it will be released in a future update, the report said. If you are already on the iOS beta channel, you can use the feature by updating WhatsApp to the version 23.1.0.75. But those who are on the stable channel must wait for the feature to become available. The watchdog said that this new camera mode is already available in the Android beta version 2.22.24.21.

Meanwhile, last month, the messaging platform had introduced the ‘Accidental delete’ feature, a new layer of protection.

This feature helps users by providing a five-second window to reverse the accidental message delete and click on ‘Delete for everyone’, giving users a moment to quickly undo a deleted message if they accidentally select ‘Delete for me’ but meant to ‘Delete for everyone’.

In other news, WhatsApp is also working on a new block shortcut, along with another new tool that makes blocking annoying acquaintances a lot easier. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out a Block shortcut next to the Reply and Mute button in the message notification. Tapping the Block button will instantly block the sender, without requiring you to enter the app. The second tool is a new Block option in the overflow menu that pops up when you tap the three dots on the top right corner of the chat screen after you have select existing chats. You can choose as many chats as you want and just block them at once using the Block button. However, there are some additional steps involved with this tool.
