WhatsApp is one of the most-used communcation tools in the world. Its ability to let individuals and groups connect with each other on a range of devices is also why it is a target for spams and phony people. Among other ways to keep those people at bay, WhatsApp offers the ability to block them. The block method is soon getting even more convenient.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a block shortcut. The watchdog said the new WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.2.5 has a new Block button alongside Reply and Mute buttons in notifications. Tapping Block will instantly block the sender without needing you to open the app and delving into the account details to block it. This feature is currently in development and available to beta testers.

Moreover, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a new Block option in the overflow menu. Tapping the three dots on the top right corner of your WhatsApp chat screen will show a Block option right after you have selected existing chats. Essentially this method will let you block more than one account in one go. However, there are a couple of steps involved in this method, so it is not quite as easy as the Block shortcut, but definitely a time-saver for when you have to block multiple chats.

Much like the previous option to block a sender, this, too, is currently in development. That means that you will not be able to access it unless you are enrolled in the beta programme. For that, just go to Google Play Store, search for WhatsApp and tap the Join Beta Programme to become a part of the testing process. After gathering enough responses and positive feedback, WhatsApp is likely to roll out both block-related features for everyone. But when is something only time will tell.
