Meta-owned WhatsApp is always known for bringing enhancements and safety features to its platform. These features are introduced with the intent to protect user identity, while making communication more seamless. As per the latest report from Wabetainfo, a website known for tracking new and upcoming WhatsApp features, the instant messaging platform is working towards giving users more control and authenticity when sharing their social media links. The update came for the iOS users.

WhatsApp Beta for iOS 25.22.10.72

Under its latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, the company reveals a feature that is currently in progress. This feature will allow users to add verified Instagram profile links directly to their WhatsApp profiles. A similar feature was being tested for Android users.

What’s New in this Feature

Currently, anyone can paste a social media link to their WhatsApp profile. This can lead to impersonation, confusion, and even scams. It truly doesn’t guarantee that the link belongs to your profile. Under this feature, WhatsApp will add a badge next to confirmed Instagram profile links. In addition, it will assure your contacts that the linked account is genuinely owned by the person sharing it.

Here’s How This Verification Will Work

To verify your Instagram link, you need to connect your WhatsApp to Meta’s Account Centre. This is a central hub for managing linked profiles across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. As soon as your profile is verified, the link will carry a visible label of authenticity. For those who prefer not to link accounts, unverified profile links will still be allowed, but without the trust badge.

The visibility of shared profile links will still depend on each user’s privacy settings, meaning not all contacts will automatically see them. While Instagram is the first platform to benefit from this verification process, Meta may expand support to other networks in future updates.
