Meta is on a mission to push its AI tool in almost every app available. The company was recently spotted testing its AI chatbot on WhatsApp, and now, it is said to make it available on Instagram. Users will be able to access the chatbot via the search bar in the DMs section, right where you chat with your friends.
According to TechCrunch, Meta AI is coming to Instagram in the DMs section. Users will be able to search for a query in the search bar, which will lead them to the Meta AI chatbot. Once you open the AI chatbot, you will have some pre-loaded questions that you can ask. Or, you can choose to manually ask some other queries.
Interestingly, the chatbot won’t just answer your questions, but also suggest your reels or content on the platform. That’s provided if you ask for it. So you can ask Instagram to suggest reels on a specific topic, such as a sunset or food, and you should have a couple of videos lined up for you.
This is a good way to promote the platform’s content, and it also shows how Meta wants its AI chatbot to go beyond a text generation tool. It will be interesting to see what more the Meta AI chatbot can do once it’s available to everyone.
However, it’s worth noting that Meta confirmed that the AI-powered experiences are under development and are being tested publically in a limited capacity. That said, don’t be surprised if you see the AI chatbot in the DMs section even before the official rollout announcement.
Previously, the Meta AI chatbot was spotted by some users in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android. Users saw the AI chatbot button on the right side. The chatbot on WhatsApp has similar pre-loaded questions for users to ask. It’s unclear when Meta’s testing phase will end and we’d get the chatbot, but we expect that to happen soon.
In other news about Meta apps, the company recently shared an update that it’s adding the Notes app to profiles on Instagram. So far it was only visible in the DMs section, but with its availability on profile pages, more people are expected to use it. Further, it’s also prompting users to ask questions to their friends, to which they can reply in their updates on Notes.
