Amidst Tiktok ban in US, Instagram has announced its new app dubbed as ‘Edits’. The company has announced the new app in order to capitalize on Tiktok’s uncertain ban in US. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram posted on his account about the upcoming app. The message on the video reads, “Today we’re announcing a new app called “Edits” for those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone. There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what happens, it’s our job to provide the best possible tools for creators.”

The app will give direct competition to its rival CapCut which is a Chinese short form video editing app. The said app is developed by ByteDance, owner of TikTok. The upcoming Instagram app ‘Edits’ is available for pre-order on the iOS App Store. It will soon be made available to Android.  ‘Edits; will not be available until next month. The company will also take the feedback from some of the creators and try to make the platform more suitable for the users.

Meta is known for enhancing user experience on all of its platform. Even this time the company will bring host of features to its ‘Edits.’ The app will be full of creative tools including dedicated tab for inspiration and another tab for keeping track of early ideas. Additionally, Adam says that the app will feature a camera with higher capabilities which can click some of the most enhancing pictures. Adam also says that he has recorded his video with the Edits app.

With the help of ‘Edits’, users will be able to share drafts with their friends and other creators. The app will also provide powerful insights into how your video is performing on Instagram. However, we still don’t know much about the app, but it is a clear indication that Meta is in works to take advantage of the ban of Tiktok and other Chinese apps like CapCut.
