Instagram has finally rolled out its innovative Map feature in India, allowing users to stay connected in a unique way and explore content from favorite creators. To recall, the feature was initially announced in August. The latest Map feature will allow users to share their last active location with selected friends. In addition, you will also be able to see posts from interesting or fun places around the world.
Instagram has introduced the Map feature on its platform with several improvements that are designed to make the experience clearer and more user-friendly. The feature will keep users updated about their friends’ activity without being intrusive.
With the help of the Map feature, Instagram users can choose who to share their location with and can also opt out anytime. This ensures control over privacy and security. The Map feature will allow you to discover posts, stories, and reels shared by friends and favorite creators from various locations.
STEP 1: The first step is to update your Instagram to the latest version to access the Map feature.
STPE 2: Now, the next step is to open your Instagram profile and tap the icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
STEP 3: Here, you will see the Map button
STEP 4: Choose friends with whom you want to share your last active location. You can turn this off anytime for privacy.
STEP 5: You can scroll the map feature to see stories, reels, and posts from friends and favorite creators from different locations.
STEP 6: You can tag a location to make it appear on your post, stories, or reels. A preview will show how it looks.
Instagram mentioned in its blog post that it has made key improvements since the initial launch of the Map feature, making it suitable for users. Additionally, the company also points out and addresses the improvements in location tagging.
Previously, users believed that tagging a location automatically shared their location on the map. To prevent confusion, profile photos no longer appear on top of tagged content, making it clear that it does not represent a person’s current location. Users also see an educational reminder that adding a location tag to stories, reels, or posts will display on the Map, along with a preview to show how content appears once tagged.
