In this regard, a new report states that the popular online photo and video-sharing app is now testing a new feature that will allow users to unlock reels with a secret code. Yes, you heard it right! Locked Reels that can only be accessed using secret code!

As per tech crunch, Instagram is testing a new feature that will now lock the Reels that app doesn’t want to show to everyone. Hence, there will be a system of unlocking those Reels with a secret passcode. With this experimental update, the app is trying to add a layer of exclusivity to content sharing. This will allow creators to gate certain videos behind passcodes.

Meta was spotted testing the new feature on its Design Account. Under this Design Account, Instagram shared a locked Reel that needed a security layer and users were asked to enter a Secret Code. Additionally, the meta-owned app also gave users hint for the code “1st # in the caption,” where the code is ‘Threads’. It is a reference to the first hashtag mentioned in the caption. As soon as you unlock the Reel, you will see a caption that says ‘Coming Soon.’

It seems whether it’s for closed friends, fans, or private communities, the feature will revolutionize how the content is shared, viewed, and consumed on the platform. While, the update is still in its early stages, but it hints Instagram’s push toward more controlled and personalized sharing experiences.
