We can’t deny the fact that Instagram never gave Apple’s tablets the attention they deserved. While iPhone users enjoyed the app in its full glory, iPad owners were left with either the stretched version of the mobile app or the not-so-smooth experience of Safari. Nevertheless, the wait has finally been over, and there’s exciting news for iPad owners. After 15 long years, Instagram has finally launched a dedicated app for iPads with new features.
Here’s Everything Instagram Added for iPad Users
Instagram is rolling out a new app globally, including in India. The app is free on the App Store for iPad users. To use it, your iPad must be running iPadOS 15.1 or later. Meta has also confirmed that Android tablets will get their own version soon, but a launch timeline has not been announced yet.
Meta has also redesigned the Instagram experience for iPad users. As soon as you open the app, you will notice that Reels are front and centre, a similar feature that you witness in YouTube and Netflix.
Stories remain accessible at the top, while direct messages are just a tap away. One of the standout additions is the new Following tab, which splits into three feeds:
All: Under the All feature, users can now witness Posts and Reels from everyone they follow
Friends: You can see content from mutual followers
Latest: There will be a chronological feed for those who prefer the classic Instagram style

Another essential feature that Instagram added for iPad users is that you can now view messages and notifications side by side. This not only reduces the constant switching but also delivers a more comfortable viewing experience.
Watching Reels is smoother too, as comments can be expanded without interrupting video playback, which is perfect for binge-watching sessions.
