And the feature will work well for those too who want the content running in the background while they go to sleep. And forgetting to turn YouTube off before sleeping has been a nightmare for all of us as either you will find a discharged phone with no alarms or you will wake up to some random video playing on YouTube that you obviously don’t want to see first thing in the morning.

The YouTube Sleep Timer feature will be released for both the iOS and Android versions of the application. The feature, when used, will show a countdown timer and once the time is up, it will automatically stop playing videos. Further, the device will go to sleep mode and the display of the phone will turn off. For the feature, you can choose the timer options provided by YouTube. Apart from that, you can also set it to pause after the current video.

How to use YouTube Sleep Timer?

  • Open the YouTube app on your smartphone and play any video.
  • After that, click on the Gear option available at the top right corner.
  • Now select the Sleep timer option from there and choose the time from the options like 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, and end of video.
  • Simply continue watching the video after that and you will be able to see the timer below the video player.
