Google Photos is removing the ‘Library section’ and replacing it with ‘Collections’. This move by Google is focused on enhancing user experience and making photo sorting and finding easier. According to Google, Collections will be the go-to place for users to access all their media on a smartphone. Simultaneously, you will see other sections in categories like screenshots, videos, locked, recently added, etc. As for the update, it has already been rolled out for most of the regions. Import photos: This one is available at the top, you just need to tap on the Create+ button. Then under the ‘Get Photos’ section, tap on import from other places.
Free up space: This one has been moved to the top too. Tap on the profile photo and you will see the free up space button below the account storage section.
Create something new: Moved to the top, tap on the ‘+’ icon and you will see a menu asking you to create a new album, cinematic photo, animation, highlight video, and collage. You can choose any of the mentioned according to your requirements.
Gemini-powered Search tab: Google Photos has now introduced an AI-powered search tab where you already have suggestions to get photos from particular events or timelines like August 2022, Screenshots, Selfies, Documents, etc. Apart from that, you can also search for photos that fall under a specific keyword. For example, when you search for a birthday, Google Photos will pull out all the pictures with a cake. The feature is available for both Android and iOS.
