Once the rollout reaches your device, you can tap Photos in the app to check the Memories section for your highlight reel. Since this is a gradual release, you may not see it instantly – but it should land for most users in the coming days, especially if you’re on the latest app version.
The 2025 Recap curates a scan-friendly, visual rewind of your year. From the details shared by Google so far, the feature created highlights using:
Google has also added more control inside the feature – this year, you can hide specific photos or people from appearing in your Recap. Once you apply changes, the app regenerates a fresh version, usually within 30 minutes, based on what stays visible.
A key note to be eligible for the full Recap experience is that you should have taken enough photos over the year, enabled Face Groups, and turned on media backups.
Just like other Google Recap features, you can quickly share your 2025 photo highlights via messaging platforms or social apps. Once your Recap is ready, Instagram or WhatsApp-style sharing sheets appear inside the app. According to Google, you’ll also get a notification when your Recap is ready. Throughout December, it’ll stay pinned under the Collections tab, and after that, it may move into the main photo grid under your December 2025 album section.
