Google Chat brings audio Huddles to take on Slack

Google is bringing a new audio-only feature called Huddles for Google Chat. The latest feature of the same will be powered by Google Meet. With the feature, users can have an information conversation through audio without video.

In an official blog post shared by Google, the company mentioned that Google Meet’s Huddles will the users to start an audio-first meeting which will be a real-time collaboration between the users. After starting the huddle, the users can resize or drag the windows, add video, and even share screens for a full-fledged meeting experience.

Now, the feature is going to be really helpful for all the hybrid workers and it also eliminates the need for lengthy discussions over the mail that can be solved over a call. In addition, huddles also come with multi-taking support in Chat.

Google’s huddle will take on Slack

Taking advantage of Google Meet’s advanced audio technology, Huddles offers clear and high-quality audio. Apart from that, Huddle smoothly integrates into Google Chat letting the users switch between voice and text communications. Moreover, Huddles also offers intelligent noise cancellation that removes all the background noise from a call to deliver a clear experience.

Google’s move to introduce Huddles clears the intention of the company that it really wants to stay at the top when it comes to professional communication. With the integration of voice and text, Google is aiming to capture a larger audience and cut the market share of its competitors. As of now, in terms of text and voice integration, Slack could be dubbed the biggest competitor of Google in the global market.

While we can’t deny that Slack is not only about texting and huddles as the platform offers a lot more than that like channel creation. It will be interesting to the how Google will modify the Google Chats app to make sure that they outclass apps like Slack in the global market.
