Snapchat users, brace yourself! There’s some sad news for you! Snapchat has introduced a major change in the app that will affect how you save your snaps and store them. To recall, the company launched its Memories feature in 2016, and since then, people have been storing everything on the app. From quick selfies to unforgettable trips, everything was stored in the app, which resulted in over one trillion saved Memories across the platform. But things are changing now! Snapchat is now introducing paid storage plans for users that go beyond the free storage limit.

Snapchat Free Storage Limit and New Paid Plans

Until now, Snapchat users could store their Memories without worrying about space. Nevertheless, things are changing now, and the company is limiting the storage options for users. The tech giant has now set up a 5GB free storage limit within the Snapchat Memories feature.

Keeping the storage in mind, for most users, this will be more than enough for storing their snaps. However, users who have thousands of Snaps and videos will not be able to store them, eventually leading them to hit the cap.

Memory Storage Plan

To keep things in sync, Snapchat has launched its Memory Storage Plans. The entry-level plan will be priced at $1.99 per month, offering 100GB of space. If you have subscribed to the Snapchat+ plan, then you will get up to 250GB of space at $3.99 monthly subscription.

For heavy users, Snapchat Platinum provides a whopping 5TB of storage at $15.99 per month.

These Paid Plans Might Not Affect Most Snapchat Users

By launching these paid plans, the company has also made clear that the majority of its Snapchat users won’t be affected and will not feel the impact of this change. The average Snapchat user is far from crossing the 5GB threshold, but for users who holds countless videos, stories, and snaps will be affected, and hence, paid options can help them.

How to Switch to Snapchat Paid Plans

Snapchat is offering a one-year temporary storage period for anyone who already has more than 5GB saved. This will make things easier and give users enough time to decide whether they want to pay extra or manage their existing storage.
