The Vivo Vision Discovery Edition is the first MR headset developed by a smartphone company in China. The headset has been in development for four years and is designed with a lightweight, ergonomic build, weighing 398 grams with a height of 83mm and thickness of 40mm. Vivo says this makes it 26% smaller than the industry average, ensuring more comfort for daily use. The device also comes with four sizes of light seals and eight foam padding options, allowing a customised fit for long wear. Running on OriginOS Vision, the headset allows natural “move-and-pinch” interactions, supported by 1.5-degree high-precision eye-tracking and fingertip gesture recognition with 26 degrees of freedom. Additionally, the headset supports a vertical tracking range of 175 degrees. The headset displays dual Micro-OLED screens providing 8K binocular resolution with 94% DCI-P3 colour coverage, as well as professional-grade colour accuracy.
The Vivo Vision headset is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2.1 which offers 2.5x GPU performance and 8x AI performance when compared to the previous generation. Therefore, the headset will support smooth rendering for immersive entertainment, as well as gaming and productivity applications. Users can enjoy 120-foot virtual theatre screens for movies or live sports, split-screen viewing, and panoramic experiences.
During the event, Vivo COO Hu Baishan highlighted that the focus of the company is user-first innovation, bringing together technology with human-centred values. With the Vision Discovery Edition, Vivo aims to make mixed reality part of everyday life while expanding its long-term strategy in immersive and smart technologies.
