The smart Wearable industry keeps updating its market with several enhancements every year. Companies like Apple and Samsung are pushing their boundaries in working towards the health measure features in the wearable segment. The smart wearable has changed our lives when it comes to live, work, or interact with our surroundings. Devices ranging from smartwatches to fitness trackers are offering a plethora of health, fitness, and convenience features.

Companies like Apple and Samsung are keep on experimenting and pushing the limit of their wearable products. In this regard, a new report suggests that Samsung is working towards a noninvasive optical blood glucose monitoring. The company in its blog post by Dr Hon Pak, Senior Vice President, Samsung mentions that how the tech giant is bringing the game changer features and revamping the healthcare in wearable segment.

The blog post reads, “In our ongoing work to reimagine healthcare, Samsung is leveraging advanced AI algorithms and extensive technical expertise to develop solutions like Energy Score. This feature quantifies physical and mental energy levels through multiple health indicators including sleep, heart health and physical activity.”

The blog post further says, “In particular, blood glucose is a big area of focus for us, and Samsung has been working to develop a sensor algorithm that predicts early signs of diabetes — along with non-invasive blood glucose monitoring technology and continuous glucose monitoring-integrated nutrition coaching”

However, the blog post doesn’t directly mentions about the blood-glucose monitor feature, but it gives us a fair idea that the tech giant is indeed working in the direction of embedding AI into its health tracking wearable, especially in smartwatches. Dr Han mentioned about the feature at its Samsung Health forum hosted in San Jose. He said, “What I’m really excited about is our team, as you may have assumed, we are working on a noninvasive optically-based continuous glucose monitor,” he’s quoted as saying. “I can’t tell you the time [of the launch], but I’m very excited about the progress we are making, and this, if we do it right, will be a game-changer.”

If Samsung brings its Galaxy smartwatch with the feature of measuring blood sugar levels without piercing the skin then the company would be the first one to lead the way. Nevertheless, Apple is also working great and is looking for several enhanced ways to upgrade their smart wearable segment.
