Samsung is reportedly expanding its XR product lineup with a new smart glasses codenamed ‘Haean.’ These upcoming smart glasses are distinct products from the recently launched Galaxy XR headset. The codenamed ‘Haean’ will be designed for a different user experience. The recent leaks and reports have provided a closer look at what Samsung is planning and could offer along with key specifications that could make these glasses a noteworthy addition to the wearable tech market.
According to the latest leaks, the smart glasses appeared with a model number SM-O200P, which makes it distinguish from the Galaxy XR headset that uses an SM-I series model number. The model number of upcoming smart glasses suggests that Samsung sees them as a separate category within its AR and XR ecosystem
One of the standout features of this upcoming smart glasses are the inclusion of transition lenses, which automatically darken in sunlight and return to clear indoors. This eliminates the need for users to switch between sunglasses and regular glasses, adding convenience and practicality to everyday use.
The leaked details indicate that the Haean glasses will support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity but will not have an independent mobile data connection. Users will need a smartphone or Wi-Fi to access online features.
Additionally, buyers can also get built-in camera, possibly using a 12MP Sony IMX681 sensor in Samsung upcoming smart glasses. The buil-in camera will be equipped with features like QR code scanning, gesture recognition, and other AR-based interactions
Insider reports hint that the smart glasses will be powered by Qualcomm’s AR1 chipset, supported by an NXP chip to manage additional processing tasks. The battery capacity is rumored to be a compact 155mAh. The combination of AR-specific chips and a small form factor indicates a focus on mobility and convenience.
Although many anticipated that Samsung would unveil these smart glasses alongside the Galaxy XR headset, the company has kept the official launch under wraps. No release date has been confirmed, but the steady stream of leaks suggests that Samsung may introduce the Haean glasses in the near future.
