This announcement indicates that Vodafone Idea is inching closer to the roll out of its 5G services in India. However, the company is yet to announce the date of roll out of its 5G services in the country yet.
For the unversed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched 5G services in India in October last month. Shortly after, both Reliance Industries’ Jio and Bharti Enterprise’ Airtel started deploying their 5G services in cities across the country. As of now, Reliance Jio has rolled out its standalone 5G network, dubbed as True 5G services, in 226 cities across the country with Haridwar in Uttarakhand being the latest one to join the list.
Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, has so far deployed its 5G services in 77 cities across the country with Bhopal, Ujjain and Gwalior being the latest cities to join the list.
It is worth noting that both Airtel and Jio are offering their 5G services at 4G tariffs in India. While Jio says that it will complete 5G roll out by the end of December 2023, Airtel says that it will roll out its 5G Plus network across the country by the end of March 2024.
