Vodafone Idea (Vi) is expanding its 5G network services to more cities in India. The telecom operator has now launched 5G services in eight more cities – Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Kozhikode, and Malappuram. Earlier this month, Vi had introduced its 5G services to Mysuru, Nagpur, Jaipur, and Sonipat in a steady expansion in its next-gen network coverage. With this latest rollout, Vi’s 5G network is now live in 17 cities spread across key telecom circles, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, and Kerala. The company confirmed that more cities – Agra, Meerut, Vizag, and Madurai – will also get access to Vi 5G in the coming days. Users with 5G-ready smartphones can start experiencing Vi 5G services from today in the newly launched cities. To make the 5G accessible, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on recharge plans starting at just Rs 299. This is part of its limited-period introductory offer. Using these plans, Vi 5G subscribers can experience high-speed downloads, lag-free gaming, HD streaming, uninterrupted video conferencing, and faster cloud access.
Vi claims to be deploying AI-powered Self-Organising Networks (SON) to deliver a seamless and energy-efficient network experience. The telecom operator has joined hands with top global vendors, including Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung, to offer its 4G and 5G networks efficiently.
Vi has reported a strong traction in areas where its 5G services have rolled out. As per the company, over 70% of eligible users have already experienced Vi’s 5G network, indicating a growing demand and satisfaction.
