Musk's Starlink gets final approval to launch satellite internet services in India.
India is on the verge of having high-speed satellite internet because Starlink has already announced its residential offer at a lower cost before its long-awaited launch. SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, is in the pipeline of launching in India with a clear area of focus of linking the remote and underserved regions that are normally faced with challenges by traditional broadband. In addition to pricing, Starlink has also started to establish its business in India by filling key positions and developing infrastructure in various cities.
Starlink has priced its home internet package in India at Rs 8,600 per month. This is the price that covers the cost of satellite hardware which would cost Rs 34,000. The company is further giving a 30-day free trial, which will enable users to test the service first before investing in the long term. The scheme is accompanied by unlimited data implying that no limits will exist on its use.
Starlink claims that the connection will begin working under any weather condition and it will guarantee over 99.9 percent of uptime. The installation is being sold as immensely easy and the users just need to plug their device and they can start enjoying the service.
Starlink has not disclosed the price of its business internet plans in India, although the residential prices are available now. These will be made soon and they might target offices, enterprises, and industries that need reliable high-speed connectivity in challenging conditions.
Starlink has also begun intensifying its operations in India by putting several advertisements at its Bengaluru office. The company is recruiting for finance and treasury-related jobs, such as in payments and tax management. It suggests that Starlink is busy getting its operational framework ready with respect to commercial launch.
It is reported that Starlink intends to construct gateway earth stations located in cities like Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Noida. These stations will serve as communication linkages between the earth users and the satellites in space.
