While this may seem a debatable topic for many due to political reasons, but the reality is – Delhi Assembly is going digital! As per a report by The Indian Express, all 70 members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, including Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, have received the iPhone 16 Pro and iPads. A crucial step towards making governance digital.  news Also Read: Flipkart Festive Dhamaka Sale 2025: iPhone 16 Pro Price Cut Brings It To New Lowest At Rs 85,999

These devices were distributed at the start of the Monsoon Session earlier this week as part of the assembly’s move to adopt a paperless workflow. The report suggests that the initiative is part of the rollout of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), launched under the Centre’s “One Nation, One Application” scheme. The aim is simple – to gradually transition towards tech-based legislation, reducing paper usage and streamlining operations.  news Also Read: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro Orders Get Cancelled In Big Billion Days Sale; Buyers Call It A ‘Scam’

What MLAs Are Using the Devices For

Still, many of you must be wondering what MLAs are using the premium devices like the iPhone 16 Pro and iPads for? The main purpose seems to be using the NeVA platform, which is a setup of digital tools such as smart delegate units, multilingual support, microphones with voting panels, RFID/NFC access, and real-time document access, which can be accessed via the distributed iPads to all 70 Delhi MLAs, the report suggested. Ahead of the rollout, they got the training too on how to use the NeVA platform.  news Also Read: Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale: iPhone 16 Pro And iPhone 16 Pro Max Deal Prices Revealed; Under Rs 70,000?

However, another topic of discussion is the budget for the paperless push. While the digitisation is a step forward, many argue about the distribution of premium devices. Some reports suggest that the Delhi government increased the official limit for mobile phone purchases to Rs 1.5 lakh for the Chief Minister and Rs 1.25 lakh for ministers last month. Earlier, this limit used to be capped at Rs 50,000 since 2013.

The assembly is also equipped with HD cameras and a secure network to support these changes, all designed to enhance transparency and efficiency during proceedings. Plus, the Delhi Legislative Assembly is powered by solar energy.
