Many leaks have surfaced online talking about the completely bezel-less iPhone. According to the leaks, this iPhone was going to be released on Apple’s 20th anniversary. It was supposed to deliver a bezel-less and all-screen experience, giving a futuristic feel. But a new report from display industry analyst Ross Young says that Apple’s roadmap for hiding all the front-facing sensors beneath the display is still several years away. news Also Read: iPhone 18 Pro May Finally Swap the Dynamic Island With Under-Display Face ID

iPhone 19 Pro

Earlier the iPhone 19 Pro was expected to launch in 2027 as part of Apple’s 20th anniversary celebration for the iPhone. But Ross Young now says that might not be the case. news Also Read: iPhone Fold Could Feature a Punch-Hole and Under-Display Cameras: Check Out Rumoured Display Specifications, Expected Pricing and More

Instead, Apple could continue using a punch-hole camera on the iPhone 19 Pro, with only some Face ID components moving under the screen. This change will give a better experience as it may reduce the size of the Dynamic Island.  news Also Read: We could get to see a Dynamic Island in iPhone SE 4: Leaks

Under-Display Tech Still Not There Yet

While brands like Nubia and Samsung have already launched phones with under-display cameras, Apple is taking their time to perfect the tech, since they also use multiple face sensors along with the selfie camera for Face ID. Mainly, the trade-off in camera quality remains too high, so Apple might wait for the tech to evolve and mature before it makes its way to iPhones.

What To Expect From iPhone 19 Pro

Even if we don’t get the dream bezel-less iPhone, the iPhone 19 Pro could still be a major leap in both hardware and software. It will most likely use a 2nm A21 Pro chip that would not only be super efficient but also super powerful. Apple might also give the RAM an upgrade, along with making the phone slimmer with a rumoured 7.2mm profile.

Apple’s cautious approach could give it more time to perfect the under-display experience. Apple is known for adopting new technology only when they’ve perfected it. As of now, under-display camera tech comes with several compromises. If not done right, it could affect the image quality and sensor performance of the iPhone. But a longer delay could lead to Samsung and other Android manufacturers taking the lead in the race to deliver all-screen phones first.
