Google is reportedly working on new settings for its upcoming system software update ‘Android 14′, which will allow users to set all regional preferences, removing the need to hop into every application’s settings menu. According to a report from Android Police, a hidden system settings page was found in the Android 14 DP1 named Regional Preferences. news Also Read: iQOO 15 India Launch Confirmed For November: Specs, Features, And Everything We Know

It is expected to allow users to set up system-wide preferences for temperature units, calendar format, the first day of the week and number system. With the new settings enabled, applications won’t have to ask for or make assumptions about users’ preferences. news Also Read: How To Block Internet Access For Certain Android Apps: Simple Trick Here

However, users might still have the option to use the application default, so that the regional preferences won’t primarily control the app settings, the report said. Last month, it was reported that Android 14 will start blocking the installation of applications that target outdated versions of Android to help reduce the potential for malware. news Also Read: OxygenOS 16 Update Launching On October 16: Check Eligible Devices, Features, More

Meanwhile, another report mentioned that Android 14 will start blocking the installation of apps that target outdated versions of Android to help reduce the potential for malware. Android 14 is set to make API requirements stricter, entirely blocking the installation of outdated apps.

This modification would prevent users from sideloading specific APK files and would also prevent app stores from installing those same apps. Initially, Android 14 devices will only block apps that specifically target older Android versions.

However, Google intends to gradually raise the threshold to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), with a mechanism in place to “progressively ramp it up”, according to the report. Although, it will probably still be up to device makers to determine the threshold for outdated apps or whether to enable them at all. The tech giant intends to reduce the spread of malware apps on Android by blocking these outdated apps.

Google earlier said that the upcoming Android 14 will “support our partners in enabling all of this” after SpaceX and T-Mobile unveiled plans to deliver direct satellite connectivity to smartphones.
