Vivo, like many other brands, has been making foldable phones with top-notch hardware and advanced features for some time. However, the company never released those devices outside of China for some reason. That may change. Vivo may be planning to launch its latest foldable smartphone X Fold 3 in India and other markets. The new Vivo X Fold 3 arrived in China earlier this week with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and the title of “the slimmest foldable in the industry” with a thickness of 12.9mm. According to a 91Mobiles report, Vivo has plans to introduce the foldable category to its portfolio in India soon. While there is no information on when the launch will take place, Vivo is quietly setting up the stage. In Indonesia, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has cropped up on the SDPPI certification website, suggesting the company is considering not just India but other markets. However, the listing on the Indonesian regulator’s website does not reveal any release date either. Also Read: Upcoming smartphones in June 2024: Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, Xiaomi 14 CIVI, and more
The new Vivo X Fold 3 has a 12.9mm profile, making it probably the slimmest foldable phone. Its counterparts such as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and OnePlus Open have the thickness of 13.4mm and 11.7mm, respectively, for when they are folded. Vivo has included a new ‘armour feather’ body on the X Fold 3 along with SGS five-star anti-drop certification with an IPX8 rating for water resistance. The smartphone packs an 8.03-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. The cover display measures 6.53 inches. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powers the new Vivo X Fold 3 and works with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The rear cameras on the smartphone include a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 64MP telephoto periscope zoom sensor. It has a V3 imaging chip to help the main processor with photography-related performance demands. The Vivo X Fold 3 has a 5500mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. The phone features Android 14, but the Indian variant may have Funtouch OS instead of the company’s new OriginOS.
