First things first, why are you looking for a new phone? If there is an urgency to buy a new phone, then there is no brainer – go for the iPhone 16. It comes with AI features, better cameras, and a design change from its predecessor. But if you can wait, the iPhone 17 is just a few months away. Is It Worth Waiting For The iPhone 17?

Based on the iPhone 17 leaks and rumours, here is what we are expecting: 

• 120Hz display (finally for the base model), meaning smoother scrolling and possibly an always-on display.
• A19 chip, which is a decent jump, as the iPhone 16 already has the A18.
• Bigger battery and 35W fast charging.
• 24MP selfie camera, which will be used for the first time instead of a 12MP front camera.

Apart from the specs, price is another crucial factor to consider whether you should wait for the iPhone 17 or buy the iPhone 16. Know that Apple’s iPhones haven’t changed much in base pricing over the years, starting around Rs 79,900 ($799) for the base model. But 2025 could be slightly different.

Analysts believe the iPhone 17 lineup, especially the new “iPhone 17 Air” and the Pro models are might come with a slight price hike for some models. That means if you’re looking to buy without stretching your budget, waiting a few weeks might land you a better deal. The iPhone 16 is likely to get a Rs 10,000 price cut once the iPhone 17 launches. However, the iPhone 17 may remain at the same price as the iPhone 16 – Rs 79,900. Still, nothing is confirmed yet. 

iPhone 16 or Wait for the iPhone 17?

If you absolutely need a phone now, the iPhone 16 is a safe buy, especially since it’s powerful enough to handle everything Apple throws at it in iOS 26 and beyond. But if you can wait just a few more weeks, the iPhone 17 might bring you a slightly better design, improved display, and front camera upgrades, or at the very least, a cheaper iPhone 16.
