Oppo has launched the K12x 5G in India as another budget smartphone that will mostly appeal to customers looking for a device that can endure extreme weather conditions and brave mishandling occasionally. Oppo’s new phone has MIL-STD-810 certification, which simply means military-grade protection against shock and extreme weather conditions. It is one of the few phones with this protection level under Rs 15,000.
You can buy the K12x 5G in two models: The 6GB+ 128GB model costs Rs 12,999 and the variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs 15,999. The phone is available in Breeze Blue and Midnight Violet colours and will go on sale starting August 2 on Flipkart, Oppo India store, and select offline stores.
The K12x 5G has a 6.67-inch HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and the Splash Touch technology that lets you use the screen with wet hands or when wet. Powering the smartphone is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The phone also supports storage expansion via a microSD card of up to 1TB, while offering dynamic RAM functionality. Note that the phone has a hybrid SIM card slot, so you can either use two nano-sized SIM cards or one SIM card and a microSD card. The phone has an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance. Oppo claims the phone can survive a 1.4-metre drop on all six sides and four corners onto a concrete or marble floor.
For optics, the Oppo K12x 5G uses a 32MP main camera alongside a 2MP depth-sensing camera. The phone’s selfie camera houses an 8MP sensor. The K12x 5G runs Android 14-based ColorOS 14. The K12x 5G packs a 5100mAh battery with 45W SuperVOOC charging, which the company claims can last up to four years with at least 80 percent of its initial capacity. The K12x 5G is 7.68mm thick and weighs 186 grams, yet features a plastic rim on all sides.
