Motorola has launched a new smartphone in India dubbed the Motorola Edge 50. The new 5G smartphone comes in the lower midrange segment and sits below the Edge 50 Pro and above the Edge 50 Fusion. Some of the highlights of the phone include a 120Hz OLED screen, triple cameras with a dedicated telephoto lens, a Snapdragon chipset, and a big battery with wireless charging support. Motorola Edge 50 is priced at Rs 27,999 for the lone 8GB of RAM + 256GB of storage. Buyers can get a Rs 2,000 instant discount on Axis Ban and IDFC First Bank credit card and EMI transactions. Buyers can also get up to Rs 10,000 benefits from Reliance Jio. This includes Jio Cashback of up to Rs 2,000 (valid on prepaid – Rs 50 x 40 vouchers) and additional offers of up to Rs 8,000 redeemable as Swiggy discount, EaseMyTrip offers, etc.
The smartphone comes in two finishes – Vegan Leather (Jungle Green, Pantone Peach Fuzz) and Vegan Suede (Koala Grey). The first sale of the device is scheduled for August 8 at 12 PM on Flipkart, Motorola, and leading retail stores including Reliance Digital.
Motorola Edge 50 has the same design as the more premium Edge 50 Pro. The smartphone boasts a vegan leather back with an L-shaped camera lens placement. The device has a 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 1.5K+ resolution and 120Hz high refresh rate support. It is a curved 10-bit panel with 100 percent DCI P3 colour gamut and 1900 nits of HDR peak brightness. Further, the screen has HDR10+ support and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The screen also doubles up as an in-display fingerprint scanner for added security.
Coming to the cameras, it has a triple-rear camera system with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main lens, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 13P ultrawide lens. The main lens has Optical Image Stabilization support for smooth and stable video. Motorola has incorporated motoAI features for an advanced photography experience. Upfront, it has a 32MP camera for clicking selfies. The camera on the front is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps.
The smartphone is powered by a 4m Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with 68W TurboPower charging and 15W wireless charging support. The device runs on Android 14 out of the box with Hello UI on top.
It is confirmed to get to 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security updates. Motorola is also offering ThinkShield support for added security. The device has dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 6E. and GNSS support, including GPS.
