Apple is all set to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup next month. Now, rumours have started surfacing about the affordable iPhone 17e way ahead of the launch. The phone, expected to launch in May next year, will succeed this year’s iPhone 16e. Leaks have already suggested what to expect from the iPhone 17e. According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station (via Weibo), the upcoming iPhone 17e will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with standard 60Hz refresh rate. The screen is said to be a low-power unit. Under the hood, the iPhone 17e is expected to pack Apple’s A19 chipset, which will also power the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air. For photography, the iPhone 17e could be equipped with a 48MP camera on the rear. The front of the device could house a 12MP selfie shooter. As per the leakster, the iPhone 17e will feature a “Smart Island design”, which could be Apple’s Dynamic Island – first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro series.
Recent reports suggest that the iPhone 17e will make its debut in May 2026. It will succeed the iPhone 16e, which debuted in February this year.
To recall, the iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch OLED display with 60Hz refresh rate. It houses a 12MP front-facing camera in the iPhone 14-like notch. The iPhone 16e is powered by Apple’s A18 chip and packs a custom C1 modem. The device also supports Apple Intelligence features. The iPhone 16e is equipped with a single 48MP rear camera.
Currently, Apple is readily working on the iPhone 17 series. The lineup is expected to be unveiled in September this year. It will include the standard iPhone 17, the slimmest iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This time around, the Cupertino-based tech giant is axing the Plus variant from its iPhone lineup.
