A report from October last year by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro lineup will feature solid-state buttons. Now, as the new year has begun and as we move a bit closer to the release of the next iPhones, though still far away, he’s back reiterating the same information.
The Apple analyst has revealed that his latest survey has hinted that the high-end iPhone 15 models will indeed feature solid-state buttons. These buttons will be backed up by Taptic Engine to simulate the feel of actual physical buttons. Basically, the buttons will offer ‘force feedback’.

Cirrus Logic, which is the exclusive supplier of the Taptic engine’s controller IC for the solid-state buttons, is said to largely benefit from this decision. Kuo has revealed that if the solid-state buttons on the upcoming Pro models get good feedback from users, more brands may offer the same in their higher-end smartphones, which isn’t a surprise.
Apart from this change, Apple will offer plenty of other things that may make you switch to the upcoming iPhone 15 models. All iPhones, from the vanilla models to the top-of-the-line Pros, will have a USB Type-C port for charging. This will be a welcome move since USB Type-C is now standard for Android phones and the Type-C chargers are also easily accessible.
Furthermore, the iPhone 15 Pro models will have a more premium Titanium frame instead of Stainless Steel. Although not confirmed by Apple, we are also expecting a better camera.
The design will most likely be similar to the existing iPhones with a pill-shaped display style. The Californian company is said to offer Dynamic Island support to every iPhone this year – the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Moreover, all iPhones will boot on iOS 17 out of the box, which is expected to get released at the WWDC 2023 event sometime in June.
Speaking of WWDC, this year, Apple’s major focus may not be iPhones, even though the specs upgrade. Instead, Apple is willing to bet on its AR/VR headset, reportedly called Apple Reality Pro, which is tipped to release before June.
