Windows update: At the moment, there are many ways Android users can share files with their Windows PC and vice versa. There’s the time-tested Bluetooth connectivity and then there is Google’s Quick Share feature. While these features certainly make it possible to share files between a Windows PC and an Android phone, there’s still some room for improvement. To fill this space and make it easier for Windows PC users to transfer files from their Android phone, the company is working on a new feature called ‘Windows Share’. Microsoft‘s Windows Share feature essentially eliminates the requirement for connecting a Windows PC and an Android phone every time the user needs to share a file. Instead, it relies on two apps — Link to Windows app on Android devices and Phone Link app on Windows PCs to link the two devices and promote file transfer feature seamlessly. “We are rolling out the ability to easily share content to an Android device from Windows share window. The feature requires you to pair your Android device to your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on Android and Phone Link on your PC,” Microsoft wrote in a blog post. Also Read: Don’t Ignore! How Microsoft’s new Windows Share feature works is quite simple. First users need to connect their Windows PCs with their Android phones using Link to Windows app on Android phone and Phone Link on Windows PCs. Once this is done, users will see a new ‘Phone’ option in the share Windows on their PCs. All they need to do to transfer files from the PC to their phones is to tap this option and follow the prompts on their screens.
At the moment, this new feature is available to Windows Insiders users only. Windows PC users who are a part of the Insider program can get access to the new Windows Share feature with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3785 (KB5039319). That said, while the Windows Share feature is available only to beta users at the moment, it should be available to all Windows 11 users with a stable update later this year.
