Google Wallet tips: How to add a movie ticket

Google Wallet was recently launched in India as the company’s new app, allowing users to store sensitive documents digitally. While its American counterpart also allows online payments, Google has decided to operate two different apps in India. Google Wallet will co-exist with Google Pay (GPay) where the latter will be responsible for payment needs. The idea is to make payments for things like a movie ticket from Google Pay and receive the ticket in Google Wallet for immediate access. While purchasing the ticket

When you buy a movie ticket through a partner app or website, such as PVR Inox, you may see an option to “Add to Google Wallet” during checkout. You can select this option to automatically add the ticket to your Google Wallet after the purchase. The functionality may work according to the platform you are using to book the ticket. Adding the ticket manually

If you have booked a movie ticket from a platform not supported by Google Wallet, you can add it manually to the wallet. To do that:

— Ensure you have the Google Wallet app on your Android phone. If not, you can head to the Google Play Store to download it.

— Log into your Gmail account or open the Gmail app on your phone.

— Now, find the confirmation email for your movie ticket purchase from the booking platform. In some cases, Google Wallet automatically detects the movie ticket in your email and adds it to your wallet.

— If automatic detection has not happened, you can tap the confirmation email and look for an option to “Add to Google Wallet” or “Save to Passbook” option to add the movie ticket to Google Wallet.

Google Wallet will remind you way ahead of the show timings and send prompts whenever you are in the theatre’s vicinity.
