3 ways to restrict adult or sensitive content on Instagram

Choose to see less sensitive content

It is worth noting that Instagram already has a policy where it restricts sensitive content for users under 18. Instagram offers three options for sensitive or 18+ content – More, Standard, and Less. Step 1: Open Instagram on your Android or iOS smartphone.

Step 2: Tap on the Reels tab.

Step 3: Once you head to the Reels tab, reels should automatically start playing. Now tap on the three dots on the side.

Step 4: Tap on Manage content preferences.

Step 5: Tap on Sensitive content.

Step 6: You should now see all the aforementioned options. Tap on Less to see less sensitive content on the platform.

Unfortunately, you cannot fully disable sensitive content. You can only limit such content so it appears the least on your timeline.

Block sensitive or adult content using specific words

There is one more trick that you can use to hide content with specific terms or words. This will let you block reels with tags like ‘adult ‘ or ’18+’. Let’s see how you can restrict reels with such words.

Tell Instagram you aren’t interested

You can tell Instagram that you are not interested in watching sensitive or unwanted reels by choosing the ‘Not Interested’ Option.

Step 1: Open a Reel on Instagram.

Step 2: Tap on the three dots on the side.

Step 3: Tap on Not Interested.
