OnePlus unveils ‘Stay Connected. Stay Smarter’ campaign with Shahid and Mira Kapoor

Television has significantly robbed us of quality family time. Conversations and interactions between family members are constantly distracted by glamorous TV events.  Overall, family dynamics have undergone a major change, thanks to televisions.

Even special occasions cannot bring in closer bonds between families. The multiple soap dramas and TV series on television and OTT platforms have deprived us of family time. We prefer to stay hooked on to our favorite TV shows and snack on popcorn even during celebrations of special occasions. Instead of fighting with our sibling for special occasion sweets we now fight over the TV remote.

OnePlus has decided to address this unhealthy relationship trend in its latest ad film.

OnePlus’ latest OnePlus TV Campaign, ‘Stay Connected. Stay Smarter.’, prompts families to spend some genuine bonding time together by moving away from their TVs, once and for all. And guess whom they have roped in to feature in the ‘Stay Connected. Stay Smarter.’ campaign? The Bollywood star couple, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Kapoor!

Shahid Kapoor has shared some interesting thoughts on the subject and said, “We are living in a digital age where people across all age groups are quite invested in content consumption and might just miss out on celebrating milestone events with families”.

He mentioned that the celebration of special occasion season is a great place to start with mending family bonds that have been lost to the invasion of digital spaces. He also commented on the thought-provoking concept of the ad campaign which also highlights the OnePlus’ seamless connectivity and other smart features.

Shahid’s real-life partner, Mira Kapoor also quipped, saying, “Celebrating special occasions with family is a significant aspect of our lives and should be an experience to cherish for life.With its novel take on how families should come together to celebrate, OnePlus is bringing a refreshing take to the tech segment on how tech users can enjoy their lives with conscious use of their tech products, particularly on occasions that are meant to prioritize time with your dear ones.”

The ‘Stay Connected. Stay Smarter.’ campaign showcase the smart ecosystem and functionalities of the OnePlus TV U1S. Interestingly, you can get to see the amazing features of OnePlus products such as the OnePlus Buds, OnePlus smartphones, smart volume control features etc. also in the ad film.

The makers of the ad film rolled out an innovative concept to convey the essence of ‘Stay Connected. Stay Smarter’ campaign.  Mira is watching her favorite show on their OnePlus TV. The home of the Kapoors’ is all well decorated to keep in line with the special occasions. Mira explores the brand’s smart connected ecosystem with OnePlus Buds Pro which is connected to the OnePlus TV.

Shahid enters to convey some message to Mira who is still absorbed in her smart TV. Shahid takes over to highlight the importance of disconnecting from TV distractions to maintain quality bonding time with family. Mira turns off the TV using Google Voice Assistant and joins the festivities. The ad film leaves viewers with the message that it is time to disconnect from television and improve the quality of our relationship with our families.

And much of these might be best enjoyed in living those moments by truly bonding with our loved ones. With this thought, we launched the “Better Together” campaign. We wanted to provide our community with a delightful insight on defining quality moments in life by choosing to disconnect from their smart TVs for once, and thereby offer them a thought-provoking perspective to digital consumption’’.

The ad film was born out of the concept by Utsav Gokhani and is directed by Suraj Wanvari. The campaign is done in partnership with Media Monks.

Having ventured into the smart TV segment in 2019, OnePlus has seen commendable success in the segment. And the brand has emerged as the fastest growing smart TV brand in the first half of 2022 in terms of shipments with an incredible 123% YoY growth, as per the latest Counterpoint India smart TV shipments model tracker report for Q2 2022. Furthermore, the brand has scaled to emerge among the top three smart TV brands of India in Q2 2022 as per the report.

Let’s break free from our favorite TV shows and spend some quality time with our family together. It’s worth it in the end.
