YouTube to stop Deepfake videos of creators with this AI tool. Here's how it will work.
As we are getting advanced in AI, the fear of deepfake videos is rising with each passing day. It is not like that deepfake is completely a new concept to deal with; however, AI is fueling the wave of it. To curb these deepfake videos, especially of popular faces, YouTube has introduced a new AI tool for creators.
YouTube’s Partner Program has a new AI likeness detection tool for creators, which will protect your videos from a third party using those videos or your voice to create a deepfake. How will it work? Now every YouTube user will have access to this AI tool. Instead, the video platform has announced that it will be available to creators in the YouTube Partner Programme. However, the access will be expanded over time. To access it, the creators will have to go to the Content ID Menu to manage the copyrighted content. Most importantly, the process to get access to the tool is not simple either, simply to avoid the chances of any scammer being registered as a creator. To be a registered member of the AI Likeness Detection tool, you will need to give consent for the data processing, submit a government-approved ID card, and a video selfie to verify. Creators can only access the tool once the identity has been verified. Also Read: YouTube Premium Lite In India Launched: Enjoy Ad-Free Experience At This Price Now
Once you have access to the tool, YouTube will show the videos which could be created via AI as a deepfake. Not only that, the video streaming platform will also categorise these videos on the basis of their priority.
If the creator finds any deepfake video, then they can ask for its removal or the option to be archived. This will raise a complaint with YouTube, and after the review, the tech giant will take the appropriate action.
