Web browsers are getting a serious AI makeover and Perplexity is ready with a new AI browser of their own. Spotted early by Testing Catalog, the new browser is expected to launch soon, and is aiming to capture Google Chrome’s massive user base. news Also Read: Comet Browser By Perplexity AI Is Finally Free For All; Set To Rival Google, OpenAI, Anthropic?

Comet takes the best of Google and combines it with Perplexity’s own AI, making it a browser with a brain. It is built by the team behind the popular AI search engine Perplexity. This browser isn’t just about loading pages fast but, it helps users find articles they read last week or even a month ago, without needing to remember a single keyword. Comet promises to read, track, and understand your browsing behavior to deliver truly context-aware assistance. news Also Read: ChatGPT And Perplexity-Like Apple AI-Powered Web Search Tool For Siri May Launch In 2026: Report

Perplexity has been dropping hints with a “Learn Comet” button appearing in the UI. And now, even CEO Aravind Srinivas isn’t being subtle as he straight up said, “Chrome is on its way out.”

Comet is expected to integrate with Google services, maintain a deep memory of your web activity, and offer native features like ad-blocking and privacy settings you can actually control. It also keeps privacy in mind by giving users the option to opt out of data sharing.

That being said, it would be tough for Perplexity as it would face  stiff competition from Microsoft’s Edge, which is already packed with GPT-powered features, and Chrome, which is gearing up for an AI-heavy showing at Google I/O. If Comet wants to stand out, it’ll need to up its game and bring even more to the table.

With the lines between browsing and AI assistance increasingly blurred, it’s great to see new tools like Comet enter the market. It gives users more variety to choose from and the freedom to pick what best fits their workflow.
