ChatGPT is no longer just a chatbot, as it seems to be becoming your one-stop productivity hub. OpenAI has rolled out a new feature called “Mini Apps,” allowing users to directly access and interact with popular platforms like Spotify, Canva, Zillow, Figma, Coursera, and Expedia, that too all without leaving ChatGPT. news Also Read: ChatGPT Pulse Is Here: The AI Feature That Could Replace Your Morning News Apps

What are these Mini Apps in ChatGPT? Announced at OpenAI’s annual DevDay 2025 conference, these mini apps are essentially interactive tools built right into ChatGPT conversations. Instead of jumping between tabs, you can now ask these apps to perform tasks inside your chat. news Also Read: ChatGPT May Soon Get Ads As OpenAI Searches For Monetisation Chief

For example, you could type, “Spotify, make me a workout playlist,” or “Canva, design a birthday invite,” and get the results right within ChatGPT. The idea is simple – make ChatGPT not just a space for answers, but a place for getting things done.

Apps Within ChatGPT: How It Works

You don’t have to install anything or leave the chat window. Just mention an app by name, such as “Zillow, show me 2BHK flats in Bengaluru under Rs 70,000 per month,” and ChatGPT will pull up an interactive map with listings.

Similarly, you can use Expedia to plan a trip, Coursera to start a course, or Figma to create a mockup. The first time you use a mini app, ChatGPT will ask you to connect your account so you know exactly what data is being shared. These integrations are currently available to logged-in users on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, except in the EU region.

Other ChatGPT Updates

You don’t always need to summon an app manually. ChatGPT can now suggest apps when they fit your conversation. If you’re planning a trip, it might recommend Expedia. Talking about home interiors? Zillow could appear automatically with home listings.

Alongside this rollout, OpenAI has introduced a preview of the Apps SDK, a developer toolkit to create new ChatGPT apps. It’s built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows developers to connect data and tools to ChatGPT easily. Developers can already experiment in Developer Mode, with monetisation options expected later this year.
