Microsoft’s Bing search is getting a new upgrade as the tech giant has added Bing Video Creator to its Bing mobile app. This offers users the ability to generate short videos from text prompts for free. This is possible because they are using a customized version of OpenAI’s Sora AI. This shows that Microsoft is making the most out of their investment in OpenAI and expanding their investment in AI-powered creative tools. Also Read: Not Into iPad? Currently, this feature is exclusive to the mobile app, but the free video creation service is planned to be rolled out soon on the Bing website as well. Although the Bing Video Creator is free, it comes with some restrictions. The service includes two speed options for generating videos: standard and fast. All users receive 10 credits to use the fast mode, which produces videos more quickly. After these credits are exhausted, additional fast mode videos require 100 Microsoft Rewards points per video. On the other hand, the standard mode allows for unlimited video generation but with longer processing times.
As the service is free, it has some more restrictions as well. All created videos can be downloaded and stored for 90 days before automatic deletion. Every video is watermarked to ensure transparency by marking it as AI-generated and enabling traceability back to the original creator.
AI-generated content has seen a significant surge recently, with every tech giant striving to implement it across their devices. Text-to-video has become a hot topic, and it appears Microsoft also wants a piece of this action as they integrate this feature in their Bing search to create these videos. This initiative will not only help them improve their model but also help them to work in collaboration with OpenAI, potentially bringing more premium features to Bing. The best part is that Microsoft is Making sure that the adaptation of Sora AI happens with safeguards to prevent the generation of harmful or unsafe content. While these restrictions can occasionally limit the AI’s capabilities, they are crucial for preventing misuse of the technology.
While video generation AI is still maturing, image generation AI has seen more extensive development. Images have become quite polished, and the outputs are now remarkably natural in many cases. Many creators have even started using these AI-generated images, with a lot of AI art visible across the internet. This new Bing Video Creator indicates that AI video generation is also on its way to making a similar leap. Google has already showcased its new Flow tool, which could elevate AI video generation to an entirely new level. Microsoft is also jumping on this bandwagon, seeking to compete in this space by offering its own tool.
