YouTube is an app that is a constant follower of change. And now, the latest reports related to the same suggest that it is planning to integrate third-party content on the platform like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. The reports have suggested that YouTube is planning to bring content from franchises like Paramount and Max into the YouTube application on TV. The report was first published by The Information.

However, this is something that is not going to happen for the first time. Back in 2022 also, YouTube tried to bring third-party content on the platform. The app also introduced a feature known as Primetime Channels which were accessible in the Movies and TV hub section of the application. It used to have more than 30 channels including Paramount Plus, Vix Plus, SHOWTIME, and a lot more. However, the development of the feature was ditched because of less interaction in the beginning stages.

YouTube Primetime channels feature details

As of now, the Alphabet-owned streaming platform is trying its best to offer a fresh perspective with the feature and make content discovery easy for the users. With the latest redesign, YouTube is trying to look like Disney Plus or Prime Video. To keep up with the plan, YouTube is also planning to expand its primetime channels section to show the services to the paid tier users of the application. The report says that the redesign will help the users organize the content into separate show pages.

TRENDING NOW

As of now, there is no word regarding the launch of the feature for the masses. Speculations are that first it will be tested in a selection region with a few users. And once the tests are deemed successful, the feature will be then launched for the masses to enjoy. It will also be interesting to see if YouTube bumps up the price of its Premium subscription once the Primetime Channels come into play or not. That being said, we will keep posting about any updates related to the same.
