WhatsApp is testing a new feature that restricts you from taking screenshots of someone else’s profiles, provided that they have enabled the screenshot-blocking feature. The new feature will do away with the issue of people quietly screenshotting profile pictures of others for whatever reasons. The new screenshot-blocking feature for the profile photo was spotted in the latest beta build of the app on iOS. Previously, it was seen on Android’s beta build. news Also Read: WhatsApp’s New iPhone Update Brings A Liquid Glass Design, But Also A Strange Mute Bug

WhatsApp’s screenshot-blocking feature comes to iOS

According to WABetaInfo, the latest WhatsApp beta update for iOS with model number 24.10.10.70 brings a much-anticipated privacy and security feature. The latest version adds screenshot-blocking for profile photos. The feature will let people restrict others from taking screenshots of their profiles. This will be similar to how it is on FaceBook. news Also Read: Now Apply For Delhi Govt Documents In WhatsApp Chat, No Office Visit Needed

As for WhatsApp, those who try to take a screenshot of profiles that have enabled the feature will see a “Screen capture blocked” alert. We have already seen a similar feature in action for ‘view once‘ photos, where it blocks screenshot attempts. Interestingly, you cannot see view once photos and videos on desktop for enhanced privacy. Now, it remains to be seen if the feature for profiles will also work on desktops. news Also Read: WhatsApp For iOS Gets A Fresh Liquid Glass Makeover Inspired By iOS 26

This is not the first time we have seen this feature. Previously, it was spotted on Android. Now, that it’s available in both platform’s beta build, we expect the public rollout to be soon. However, there’s no exact release date for the same.

In other news about WhatsApp, the company recently updated the design of the app on both Android and iOS. The redesigned WhatsApp looks similar to Meta’s Messenger app. The new design makes navigation easier. It also makes the app look almost the same on both platforms unlike before when the iOS app’s design was strikingly different.
