Google Photos is adding a feature to add fun to your pictures with its new AI-powered Remix feature. First teased in July, Remix can transform any regular photo into one of four artistic styles – 3D animation, anime, sketch, or comic book. It’s a more playful take on photo editing, letting you instantly reimagine your images without leaving the Google Photos app. news Also Read: Google Photos Expands Conversational Editing From Pixel 10 To More Android Phones

Now, the feature is rolling out gradually, so not everyone will see it right away. But when it lands on your device, it’ll be tucked inside the app’s editing tools, ready to turn your snapshots into something entirely different. If you have started getting the feature, here is how the Google Photos Remix AI feature will work. news Also Read: Google Photos Can Now Animate Your Old Pictures: Here’s How

Google Photos AI Remix: How Remix Works

Remix is currently available only on the Google Photos mobile app. To try it out: news Also Read: Google Photos Celebrates 10 Years with Big AI-Powered Editor and Smarter Sharing Features

  • Open the Google Photos app.
  • Tap the + icon (or Create new, if visible) in the top-right corner.
  • Select Remix from the menu.
  • Pick your preferred style — 3D, Anime, Sketch, or Comic.
  • Choose a photo to edit, then hit Generate.

The AI will process your image and apply the chosen style. Don’t like the result? Simply tap Regenerate for a new version in the same style. You can then save it to your library or share it directly with friends.

Well, AI-generated art filters aren’t new. Social media has been full of them since tools like ChatGPT and image generators went mainstream. But having Remix built into Google Photos means you won’t have to upload your pictures to third-party apps, which can be a big plus for privacy and convenience.

It’s also part of Google’s bigger push to bring Gemini AI capabilities into everyday tools. Alongside Remix, the company has been testing other creative features, like photo-to-video conversions and even AI-generated illustrated storybooks.

Google Photos AI Remix Feature Availability

Right now, Remix is rolling out in stages, so you may need to wait before it appears in your app. Once available, it’ll be a quick, no-fuss way to give your pictures a unique, shareable twist.
