Google Drive Introduces AI Summaries Called ‘Catch Me Up’: Now You Can Easily Track File Edits, Comments, and Updates

To make things seamless, Google introduced a brand new feature called ‘Catch Me Up’ in its Google Drive. The company is making its Drive even smarter to help users quickly stay informed about their recent activity on their personal stored files. The tool is powered by the AI, and it is constructed in a way so that it can deliver concise summaries of changes, including edits, comments, and updates across documents that you may have missed while being away.

Here’s What We Know About Google Drive ‘Catch Me Up’ Features:

The newly introduced Google Drive ‘Cat Me Up’ feature ensures that you don’t have to dig through notifications or open each file manually. It is company’s latest move in order to bring more intelligent and time saving features to its workspace tools. Additionally, this will also make collaboration even more seamless.

Google says, “Catch me up” provides a high-level overview of important changes across documents from your Drive, or a synopsis of the main changes and comments in a particular file since it was last opened to ensure users are always up to date.”

The feature is divided in two parts: For Admins and For End Users:

For Admins:

• In order to enable access to Gemini, you need to have smart features and personalization turn on.
• If you are an admin, you can set this up by turning on the default personalization settings via your organization Admin console.

For End Users:

• If you are an end user then you need to head straight to the Google Drive Home and click on the ‘Catch Me Up’ feature. The feature is available at the top of the page.
• As soon as you click on the option, your summary will appear in the Gemini side panel.

‘Catch Me Up’ Roll Out and Release:

The ‘Catch Me Up’ in Google Drive is currently available in English language only. It will be a part of the gradual rollout for up to 15 days for feature visibility. The rollout will start from June 3, 2025.

• Business Standard and Plus
• Enterprise Standard and Plus
• Customers with the Gemini Education or Gemini Education Premium add-on
• Google One AI Premium
