Samsung’s highly anticipated extended reality (XR) headset, codenamed Project Moohan, won’t be arriving this month as previously expected. According to a new report from ETNews, the South Korean tech giant has pushed back the launch to October 21, 2025, and will unveil the headset at an online event. The move comes after earlier leaks pointed to a September 29 launch in South Korea, with sales set to begin on October 13. Now, with the unveiling shifted to October, the retail availability could also be delayed. Reports suggest that the change comes down to Samsung’s internal marketing decisions and some extra rounds of quality checks. The company seems to be taking its time to ensure everything is polished before stepping into the highly competitive XR market. Samsung’s upcoming Project Moohan is expected to mark the company’s entry into the XR space with its first AI-powered headset. The device is designed to merge virtual and augmented reality, and has already attracted attention with leaks pointing to high-end specifications and close integration with Samsung’s broader ecosystem.
Industry reports suggest Samsung is preparing an initial production run of around 1,00,000 units. However, that figure could change depending on how strong the demand turns out to be. Pricing rumours place the device between KRW 2.5 million (about Rs 1,59,000) and KRW 4 million (around Rs 2,55,000), positioning it as a high-end rival to Apple’s Vision Pro.
Interestingly, Project Moohan wasn’t the only product affected by Samsung’s reshuffle. The much-rumored Galaxy Z TriFold, which many expected to debut alongside the headset, has also reportedly been delayed. The foldable is now tipped to launch separately, either in late October or November.
For now, fans will have to wait a little longer, but with Samsung aiming to bring cutting-edge hardware and AI-driven features, October could shape up to be a big month for the company’s next-generation devices.
