Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited or BSNL has once again reduced the validity of two of its popular plans in India. BSNL’s reduction in the validity of its plans is part of a broader strategy and trend where the telecom giant is adjusting its low-cost recharge plans. This will encourage users to consider buying a higher-value option for extended validity.
Earlier, the Rs 107 prepaid plan offered 35 days of validity, however, the telco then reduced it to 28 days and now further reduced it to 22 days. Despite the reduction in validity, this plan will still deliver the same benefits, including unlimited data, free voice calls, and SMS quotas. The plan is one of the best cost-effective plans from BSNL in India.
While the plan offers unlimited data, its speed will drop to 40 kbps once 3GB of data is consumed. The voice call benefit in this plan includes 200 minutes for local, STD, and roaming calls across all BSNL and MTNL networks.
As soon as the free talktime ends, local calls can be placed at Rs 1 per minute, video calls can be done at Rs 1.3 per minute, and STD calls can be made at Rs 2 per minute.
Talking about the SMS charges, for local you will be charged 80 paise and Rs 1.20, and Rs 6 for national and international messages, respectively. Additional data usage is billed at 25 paise per MB.
BNL’s strategy behind reducing the validity of its low-cost prepaid plans is to take its user attraction towards more expensive prepaid options for longer coverage. For instance, the Rs. 197 plan, which previously offered 54 days of validity, has now been reduced to 42 days. Despite the shorter duration, subscribers still receive 300 minutes of voice calls, unlimited high-speed data up to 4GB, and 100 free SMS, keeping the core benefits intact.
