Airtel subscribers across the country suddenly found themselves disconnected today. Calls dropped midway, mobile data stopped working, and in some cases, the network vanished completely. Reports about the outage started pouring in around 12:15 p.m. on August 24, 2025, and quickly crossed several thousand on the outage-tracking platform Downdetector.

Cities Hit Hard by the Outage

What made this breakdown concerning was its reach. People in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata reported facing problems, while complaints also surfaced from cities like Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, and Patna. The scattered nature of the reports showed that the issue was not limited to one area but affected customers nationwide.

Types of Issues Users Reported

Most users described the same frustration, including no signal at all on their phones. Others said mobile internet had slowed to a crawl or stopped working entirely. A smaller portion of subscribers faced a total blackout, with both calls and internet services failing. Since this happened in the middle of the day, many expressed on social media that their work and daily communication were badly hit.

Airtel Yet to Clarify Cause

So far, Airtel has not given a detailed reason for Saturday’s failure. In past outages, the company has pointed to fiber cuts or technical errors. Until an official statement is made, customers are left guessing why such a large network collapse occurred again.

Unfortunately, Airtel users are no strangers to such interruptions. Similar problems had already cropped up in June and July, affecting both broadband and mobile connections. With this being the second major outage in a short span, many are beginning to question how reliable the service really is.
