Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K now comes in a more powerful avatar, featuring a minor redesign and high-end picture quality. The new Fire TV Stick 4K still plays videos of up to 4K resolution with Dolby Vision, but Amazon says it brings nearly 30 percent more power than the previous generation. Amazon is also claiming the new Fire TV Stick 4K can launch apps more quickly and offer faster streaming, thanks to new Wi-Fi standards.
“With our most powerful Fire TV Stick 4K, customers will be able to enjoy an advanced and high-performance streaming at home,” said Anish Unnikrishnan, general manager for Amazon Devices India.
The new Fire TV Stick 4K will cost you Rs 5,999. It is currently available for pre-order on Amazon, while the sale will kick off on May 13 online, as well as offline on Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales stores across the country.
While a lot has not changed in the new Fire TV Stick 4K as compared with its previous version, you will get access to faster streaming and less load times. A new 1.7GHz quad-core processor powers the new Fire TV Stick 4K, which supports Wi-Fi 6 standard. It will allow faster internet speeds with less latency, but works only with Wi-Fi 6 routers. Apart from 4K video quality with Dolby Vision, the new streaming stick from Amazon supports HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos audio. However, you will get the experience only on compatible devices, i.e., Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers.
Amazon claims the Appstore now has over 12,000 apps, including popular ones such as Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, YouTube, and ZEE5. The remote control redesign includes new buttons and better connectivity with the stick. You can also pair Echo smart speakers with the Fire TV to wirelessly create what Amazon calls an ‘Alexa Home Theatre’. Essentially, you will be able to control Fire TV using Echo and vice versa using Alexa.
