The most used navigation app in India is arguably Google Maps. Google has now announced that it's launching new features to the Maps app, some of which are powered by AI. Here are all the new features on Maps that you can use right away.
Google Maps' latest AI-based feature is the Narrow Road alert that will show up on your screen if you are driving a car and the road ahead is too narrow. The feature estimates the road's width using satellite imagery, Street View, and other information and based on the data shows a suggestion.
Google Maps now shows an icon to Take flyover if there's a route going through the flyover, doing away with any confusion that drivers had so far. This feature is available on Google Maps in 40 cities and can be used on Android, iOS, Android Auto, and CarPlay.
Google has collaborated with leading EV charging providers in India to populate authoritative information for over 8,000 charging stations. With this, Maps will have more information about EV charging stations and will show suggestions on the map.
Google Maps has partnered with ONDC and Namma Yatri to offer a ticket-booking service in Maps. With this, users can look for Metro or other services in Maps, and while doing that, they can book their tickets conveniently on the same app. The metro booking experience is live in Kochi and Chennai.
Google has simplified the way you can report incidents near you. Users can now report incidents on Google Maps with just a few taps. Further, you can also confirm incidents shared by others with a single tap.
Google has collaborated with local experts to let the community know more about places that they want to travel to. For instance, if you search for Goa and tap on the card to see more about it, you will see a list of favourite spots in Goa suggested by the community.
While these are some of the new AI-driven features on Google Maps, the app has several other features that users can try. Users can check their speed limit, know about the toll prizes as they drive, and also share their location with others to let them know that they are stuck in traffic.
