With mini phones making a comeback, it looks like Xiaomi might hop on the bandwagon and launch a smaller phone in their 16 series. To recall, OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus 13s, and Vivo has already confirmed the launch of the X200 FE.

Now, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that the Xiaomi 16 series may include four models, one of which could be a compact-sized Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini. The phone is expected to be powered by the same flagship chipset used in the standard Xiaomi 16 and 16 Pro.

Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini Leaks

According to the leak, Xiaomi plans to launch two Pro models in their 16 series. The first could be the standard 6.8-inch Xiaomi 16 Pro, and the second one might be a smaller 6.3-inch Xiaomi 16 Pro Mini. This would mark the first time Xiaomi is offering a compact Pro phone in their number series. This could be great for those who are looking for powerful performance but want a compact phone without compromising on premium features.

Talking about the performance, the Pro Mini could be powered by the Snapdragon Elite 2, offering top-tier performance. Some leaks have also shown the camera lens protectors, and the design seems to be inspired by the iPhone 17’s leaked camera layout.

Are Mini Phones back?

A new wave has started where every brand is trying their hands at a mini flagship phone. With OnePlus leading the pack and Vivo next in line, we could soon expect other brands to launch mini phones of their own.

Notably, Apple discontinued their mini phones after the iPhone 13 series, and even Asus launched their last compact flagship in the Zenfone 10 series. Now, with the trend making a comeback, it looks like more brands might try to capitalise on the demand and launch compact flagships.

But the main question still remains: Will these small flagship phones actually be accepted by the audience? After all, the target market for these devices is still pretty niche.

Nonetheless, this could be great news for consumers who are looking for top-tier performance but don’t like overly large phones, as they often aren’t as comfortable to use for long hours.
