Qualcomm might be planning to launch the successor to the Snapdragon X Elite. This means that Windows on ARM could be getting an upgrade, which would be perfect for users looking for longer battery life with no performance hits. The Snapdragon X Elite came with a 12-core CPU, solid integrated graphics, and advanced connectivity and AI features tailored for performance laptops. According to a reliable tipster, the upcoming Snapdragon X2 Elite SoC, with the model number SC8480XP, is being tested with configurations supporting up to 64GB of RAM. This is a massive leap from current standards. It is also reported to jump to 18 CPU cores, compared to the 12 cores found on the current Snapdragon X Elite. This indicates a significant performance boost for ARM-based Windows laptops. Also Read: Nvidia N1X Leak Reveals 20-Core ARM Powerhouse: Check Out Early Benchmarks of the N1X
Previous leaks suggest that the X2 Elite will adopt a System-in-Package (SiP) architecture, where RAM and storage are integrated directly into the processor package. This design promises faster data access and improved thermal management. It’s great for efficiency but could mean a big tradeoff in terms of modularity of components. Alongside the X2 Elite, Qualcomm is also reportedly preparing the Snapdragon X2 Plus. This could be announced at the company’s annual Snapdragon Summit, scheduled for September 23, 2025, in Hawaii. We’re also expected to see the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite flagship chip at this event, bringing a leap in performance for mobile devices.
It’s still unclear whether Qualcomm will reveal the Snapdragon X2 Elite, the X2 Plus, or both at the event, but expectations are high for major announcements that could redefine ARM performance on Windows laptops.
