Qualcomm Dragonwing Q6: Everything that you need to know.
Qualcomm has unveiled its latest processor, the Dragonwing Q-6690, which is being called a breakthrough in enterprise computing. It is claimed to be the world’s first enterprise mobile processor with fully integrated UHF RFID capabilities (Radio-Frequency IDentification), which uses radio waves to identify people or objects. The highlight feature of the Dragonwing Q-6690 is its built-in RFID technology, which removes the need for external reader modules. This allows companies to design devices that are smaller, more efficient, and more secure. RFID integration enables a wide range of applications, including inventory management, product authentication, asset tracking, and contactless access control. The new processor features software-configurable feature packs as its other important functionalities. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may choose the computing power, multimedia, camera and peripheral features, and even modify them later through OTA (over the air) changes without a hardware redesign. This modular approach also greatly optimises the cost of development as well as time for market entry and increases the duration for which a product can be sold. Products and businesses can be easily updated remotely as customer requirements change, making it possible for devices to always be ready for the future.
According to Qualcomm, the Dragonwing Q-6690 is built to support diverse device categories, from rugged handhelds to smart kiosks and retail point-of-sale systems. “The Dragonwing Q-6690 combines integrated RFID, AI, and next-gen wireless capabilities in a single, scalable platform,” said Art Miller, Vice President and Head of Retail at Qualcomm Technologies. He added that the processor is particularly suited for retailers who need adaptable platforms for real-time analytics, smarter kiosks, and contactless shopping experiences.
With its combination of RFID, AI, and next-gen wireless connectivity, the Dragonwing Q-6690 is positioned as a transformative platform for enterprises.
