Apple is reportedly preparing to expand its M5 lineup with new desktop models set to arrive next year. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company plans to introduce the M5-powered Mac mini and Mac Studio by mid-2026. These machines will follow the earlier releases of the M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, which are expected to debut in the first half of the year. Also Read: Samsung Beats Apple! Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter outlines Apple’s roadmap for the upcoming M5 devices. The new Mac mini is said to launch with both M5 and M5 Pro chip options, while the Mac Studio will feature the higher-end M5 Max and M5 Ultra versions. This schedule suggests that Apple’s desktop updates will arrive a few months after its laptop lineup refresh. The timing is a little unusual, considering the Mac mini was redesigned last year. With no major hardware issues reported, there doesn’t appear to be a clear reason for a delayed launch. Gurman believes the delay could be linked to the M5 Ultra chip, which is still in development. That could be why Apple is taking more time with the Mac Studio, its higher-end desktop model. Apple is known for spacing out its product launches through the year, and the same pattern might continue in 2026. The M5 Mac mini is said to be ready ahead of schedule, but Apple may hold its release until the Mac Studio is also prepared. This would allow the company to introduce both desktop models together and keep the lineup uniform.
Gurman also notes that Apple is developing two new Mac displays, which are expected around early 2026. These monitors might not launch alongside the new desktops and could be introduced separately later in the year.
If the current plan stays on track, Apple’s complete M5 lineup – covering laptops, desktops, and displays – should be available before the end of 2026.
