Google has officially confirmed that Android 16 is beginning its stable rollout starting today, June 10. If you’ve been following the developer previews or the public beta, this might not come as a big surprise. However, it is crucial for all Android users. This comes a day after the official preview of iOS 26 by Apple during the WWDC 2025 keynote.  news Also Read: iOS 26 Release Date Revealed: Check Eligible iPhones, Launch Date, Features, And How To Update

Android 16 Update: What’s New?

At launch, Android 16 won’t bring all the headline features you may have heard about during developer previews. Instead, Google is expected to roll out slowly all the features. Here is what to expect:  news Also Read: Gemini App Gets THIS Big Update Which Is Already Available With ChatGPT

Battery Health Monitoring: This new tool gives users insights into the current health and capacity of their battery, similar to what iPhones offer. It’s designed to help you spot battery wear early and make smarter decisions around charging habits.

Live Activities: Apps can now offer persistent updates directly on your lock screen or notification bar. For example, you’ll be able to track your food delivery or ride-share without opening the app repeatedly. This will be a crucial update.

Updated Quick Settings for Wallet: Google Wallet is getting more accessible with a new Quick Settings tile. From boarding passes to loyalty cards, everything will now be grouped in one place, making it easier to access without diving into individual apps.

Security Improvements: Android 16 also introduces some improvements in protecting users from scams and data breaches.

Android 16 Eligible Devices

As with previous releases, the update will begin rolling out in stages. If you’re using an eligible device—likely a recent Pixel phone—you should start seeing the over-the-air (OTA) update sometime today. However, timing may vary depending on your location and time zone.

The rollout is expected to follow Google’s usual pattern, starting with its own devices before expanding to other Android phone manufacturers. If you’re using a non-Pixel device, your phone may get the update a little later. Google hasn’t published an official device list, but the rollout is expected to begin with Pixel devices.
